Dedicated Short Range Communication, a short form that stands for it self. DSRC, based on 5.8GHz RF Technology, is the most used tolling component these days. Every system implementation throughout Europe uses this communication technology in the OBU.

In its basic form it is a simple TAG without any MMI except a buzzer. But even the most sophisticated satellite OBU's demand a DSRC interface. This allows for interoperability with existing DSRC based systems and the communication link is used for enforcement communication with the OBU.
