With the development of the TRIPON OBU product line in 1999 was FELA focussing on interoperable tolling concepts. The TRIPON-CH was the first commercially available OBU that was able to provide multi contract interoperability. Today, it is still the only device ensuring interoperability across three countries (Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Austria). It is based on GPS, DSRC and Smart Card technology and processes tacho input for reliable and fraud resistant distance recording.

This development has now culminated in the presentation of TRIPON-EU, the first and only European interoperable OBU, compatible with ETC Systems in Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Spain, Portugal and UK.
